Paula E. Meyer offers 20 years of extensive experience defending businesses and individuals in courthouses throughout California. Her areas of legal expertise include real estate, business, and labor and employment matters. Ms. Meyer is admitted to practice before all Courts of the State of California, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California. Ms. Meyer primarily practiced real estate, business, labor and employment litigation as an associate with Helsing & Rockwell, Inc. (1983-1985), and ultimately as a principal with Rockwell & Meyer, Inc. (1985-2002), prior to founding Paula E. Meyer & Associates, A Professional Law Corporation, in 2002. Ms. Meyer's civil litigation practice also encompasses administrative hearings, including representation of employers before the Labor Commissioner, and real estate professionals before the Department of Real Estate, as well as numerous Boards of Realtors. Ms. Meyer utilizes her litigation experience to provide legal counsel to businesses on avoiding litigation, minimizing exposure, and maximizing recovery when litigation is inevitable. Additionally, Ms. Meyer has represented newspapers in Southern California with respect to open Courtrooms, the Brown Act, the Shield Law, libel, and First Amendment issues. EDUCATION Ms. Meyer obtained her Bachelor of Arts with honors as a Presidential Scholar from Chapman University, in Orange, California in 1980. While in law school at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 1983), Ms. Meyer served as a judicial extern to Justice James H. Hastings of the California Courts of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Three, and received a "best brief" nomination in the David E. Snodgrass Moot Court Competition. Ms. Meyer graduated in 1983 from Hastings College of the Law at age twenty-two, and was admitted to the State Bar of California that same year.
